Balkans

(& peace corps albania)

OF EAGLES AND AGE-OLD FEUD

Where double-headed eagles once soared and East meets West are the Balkans; a land shaped by tribulate passions that have come to define its soul.

This serene peninsula of mountains and rich cultures have a wrenching tranquility. Living here as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Ralph Shinogle had the uncommon opportunity to experience it on a local level, learning Albanian and developing a personal relationship with this land nearly unspoken of.

His home Himara, in southern Albania and in sight of Corfu, Greece became a periscope to the Balkans. A special land that divulged another perspective of life to him.
